Maximize your grocery budget

Are you tired of budgeting and already stressed with your expenses specially with your groceries? Here are some tips which might help you to maximize your budget for groceries.

- Make a grocery list. Consider first those items which you really need and plan ahead what's your menu for the week. Follow your lists and it will prevent you on buying unnecessary things

- Figure out the amount of foods to buy. Don't shop in excess.

- Check the expiration date and label. Usually the newly delivered items are the one at the back of the shelf.

- Cheaper items are located at the bottom shelf. Of course, the grocery store wants you to maximize their profit so they placed the expensive ones at eye level.

- Making healthy choice when shopping.

- Compare similar items basing from their price, taste and quality.

- Buy in bulk. This will avoid frequent drives to grocery stores and will let you save your gas. Also this will minimize the so called "weighing scale" error. For example if 1 kg of meat has an error of  5g and if you bought 5 kgs in total on separate instances, then you got 25g lesser. Unlike if you bought the 5 kgs in just one buying, then it's only 5g lesser.

- Check for sales. Get some flyers and coupons so you would be updated. If possible use your point cards.

- It's better to buy your groceries from warehouse clubs which are more cheaper compared from retail/distributor stores.

- Don't bring your children when you are shopping! Funny but it's true. Toys, candies and kid stuffs are the most eye-catching items in the grocery or shopping malls.

- Keep a mindset that you need to save. If you get tempted on buying something that you want, think first if you have an extra budget. Remember the equation "Expenses=Income-Savings" not "Savings=Income-Expenses".

- Taste Testing in a store (when it's possible)

- Lastly, if you want to save, don't go to the section where do you think you will get tempted to buy that unnecessary item.
